Want to be a Councillor?

Have you ever wanted to make a difference to your local community? Well, your chance is here. Following the recent resignation of Dick Powell due to work commitments there is a position on Porthleven Town Council.

There are two ways this position can be filled. Either by an election or co-option. For an election to take place it requires 10 residents on the electoral register to write to Cornwall Council requesting an election.

If no election takes place the town council can co-opt someone who volunteers. This is undertaken by an interview process where a suitable candidate can be selected.

If neither of the options take place the position remains unfilled until an election is called, or someone is co-opted.

So here is your chance to make a difference. A play on Kitchener’s words is Your Town Needs You
