The ink is now dry on the BT JV contract

Yesterday, Cornwall Council’s Interim CEO, along with the Chairman of Cornwall Partnership Foundation Trust and the Director of Finance at Peninsula Community Health signed the contract for the JV with BT.

It was carried out with little fanfare; just an email sent to Councillors informing them of the deed.

For staff affected by the deal, formal consultations will begin on the April 1st (no irony), with the transfer of staff to BT taking place in July.

Lets hope the Council does not regret this day. And to the staff, I am sorry.

I hope are big enough to put your personal views aside and help to make this contract the success that it can be amongst the madness and inevitable continuation of doom and gloom at cornwall council. I understand BT & the council are already shortlisted on 3 Telehealth deals, winning any of those will start the jobs increases that BT have promised.

Benefits assessor – why are you now ‘ex’ are you a casualty of the Lib Dem budget cuts????

  • A benefits assessor

No, managed to secure a job elsewhere. This JV has left morale at an all time low and those staff who can get work in the private sector are inevitably doing so.

Andrew, to reiterate comments left by posters on your previous JV blogs, thanks for all you did here.

Whilst I’m sorry that the ‘light’ contract was spirited through, it is useful to take stock here:

    * The ‘thick’ JV did not proceed
    * Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust elected to pull out.
    * Cornwall Partnership Foundation Trust appear to have no Day 1 services in scope.

These are real results, thank you once again.
